CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Hector

FEAR ROLLED UNDER HECTOR’S skin while he looked at his mate. For the last few minutes the temperature in the room shifted from blistering hot to freezing cold and back again. Yet he couldn’t bring himself to tell her what had happened while she tossed and turned in his bed.

“Everything is going to be okay, Angie. I have an idea I’d like to try to help you.” Luna gave a weak smile.

“What is it?” Angie’s voice shook.

“There is a tea you can drink to help suppress your new powers. It’s what they used on me. In small doses, I think it will help you get a handle on them. It contains an herb called cono.” Luna’s uncertain voice made his wolf uncomfortable.

“Lucky for us this morning I grabbed some to help wean myself off so my own magic doesn’t do this.” She motioned toward the walls, paint pealed in places and was frozen in others. Angie gasped and looked at Hector.

“I’m so sorry.” Angie bit her lip like she was trying not to cry. Hector’s wolf whimpered in pain seeing her like this.

“Don’t worry about it.” Hector inched closer before wrapping his strong arms around her waist. “I believe in you, you’ll get these powers under control.”

“I hope so. I don’t want to hurt anyone.” Angie rubbed her head against his chest.

“I’ll go make the tea, it’ll taste funny but after a few day’s you should get used to it.” Luna wandered out of the room, her hand shook at her side. While Angie had changed the temperatures, Luna had been focusing all of her energy on keeping the power contained to the bedroom.

“Do you still want me?” Angie didn’t move from her spot on his chest, her hand rested on his thigh.

“Yes, I still want you, Angie. We will work through this. Maybe your sister-in-law can help you out with the magic.” He couldn’t afford to lose her, especially after their bond connected them. If she died, she left him, just in a different way. He couldn’t handle that kind of abandonment again.

“I really want to see my twin.”

“After we drink the tea, we can fly there.”

“Fly?” Angie’s eyebrows rose while she lifted her head. He pulled her into a kiss and smiled.

“You did miss your flight from earlier but I have a friend who has access to a plane.”

“Cool.”

“I’ll go call him right now. Relax in here or on the couch but don’t stress.” Hector kissed her head and her smile warmed him up.

“Easier said than done, but I’ll try.” She strolled out of the room and started talking to Luna about magic. Luna mentioned something about taking the tea every six hours before he tuned them out. Hector grabbed his phone and hit Drake’s contact.

“What’s up?” Drake answered on the second ring.

“How is Anne doing?”

“Great, a little boy arrived last night. He’s a little early but healthy, I think the wolf side has a lot to do with it.” Drake chuckled over the phone while a little squeak came through the line.
